SOME DETAILS
Adobe Illustrator (EPS)
- We will accept Adobe Illustrator EPS files up to version 10.
- Convert all type to outlines.
- The Document Color Mode should always be set to CMYK.
- For spot color you need to use that particular PANTONE color. If your job is full color then you can use CMYK or PANTONE colors. Do not use RGB. That is for website use only.
- Do not place EPS images inside your EPS file. Open the EPS and copy & paste it into your document.
- Whenever possible embed any placed images into your document by going to the Links Palette, select the linked graphic and from the Palette Flyout select Embed Image.
- Always save your files as Illustrator EPS files. In some cases Illustrator files saved in the AI format will not import into other applications.
- For Illustrator CS or CS2, you will need to export your the file to a Legacy EPS Format. From there you will be able to choose version 10.
CorelDRAW (CDR or EPS)
- We will accept CorelDRAW files up to version 11.
- Convert all type to curves.
- For spot color you need to use that particular PANTONE color. If your job is full color then you can use CMYK or PANTONE colors. Do not use RGB. That is for website use only.
- Because CorelDRAW offers a host of special effects such as drop shadows and Bitmap Color Masks the file needs to be tweeked to be printable. If you make a drop shadow you must separate it from it's control object and convert the resulting CMYK bitmap to a grayscale bitmap at 300 dpi. If you use a Bitmap Color Mask to remove portions of an image you must then convert that bitmap to a bitmap to remove the mask.
- A better option when design in CorelDRAW is to export your file as an EPS. In the Export Text As option you should select Curves. Use either a black & white or 8 bit color TIFF header at 300 dpi. Compatibility should be PostScript 2. Select Preserve Document Overprint Settings. Bounding Box should be set to objects.
PhotoShop or other photo editing program (PSD or TIFF)
- If you send us a PSD file you will need to flatten the composition before you submit it.
- Please provide your PSDs/TIFFs at 100% size and at the appropriate resolution: 300 dpi for grayscale or color images; 900 dpi for black & white line art.
- You should LZW compress your TIFFs.
- If you are sending us PSDs/TIFFs for artwork and your job is two color you will need to provide us with two separate black & white images, one for each color in your layout.
